It rained half the night, and the tent canvas was pretty soaked - we even had drips on the inside. Thank goodness it stopped around midnight, and with the little heater running in the tent things got fairly dry.
This morning we were able to dry most of it out and get it packed up. (I would hate to have to pack that tent up while it was raining!) Since the lows tonight in Eureka were supposed to be in the 30's, and it snowed on the pass we were going to take - we decided to bag the rest of the coast trip. (I know, what wussies - it's mostly me) It was cold today, but sunny and beautiful - we had everything on. I had my Frog Togs on over the chaps and jacket just to help break the wind.
So, we rode the rest of Highway 1 - up the coast and through the redwoods - curves and switchbacks - a really stunning and tiring ride.
When we hit 101 we turned south toward Willits. Just south of Willits we hit CA-20 and headed east to Williams. That was a beautiful ride through Lake County - by Clear Lake. It was very green, and the lakes were full - very surprising given the drought.
We're spending tongiht in Williams (in a motel) and tomorrow we'll be in Delhi which is close to Atwater where Bill lives. We'll see Bill and Theresa tomorrow night.
After that we decided to go back to Las Vegas via Death Valley (thanks Angie and Victor for that suggestion!). We'll stay in Stovepipe Wells and then a couple of days in Pahrump before heading back to Las Vegas.
I've decided I'm a fair weather rider - I don't like cold/rain/wind. :-)
