Camping July 16-19 Custer, SD

We didn't go far to camp - only to Custer - but we had two days of long, great rides!

We left a little late on Monday morning as the Cardo motorcycle communicators that we had ordered didn't get in until around 11:00 a.m. (The old ones we had finally went kaput!).  Once we got them figured out, they worked great.  They're more sophisticated than the old ones, and they will connect to the phones via bluetooth, so once we get that figured out, we'll be set!

The campsite was very nice, and we grilled a steak on Monday night.

On Tuesday, we made a 360 mile loop:  Custer to Newcastle, WY;  Newcastle to Wright, Wright to Douglas, Douglas to Lusk (where we had lunch at our favorite dive bar in Lusk), and back to Custer.  Whew!  We were tired.

Then it started to rain. And rain.  And rain.....   It poured for 3 hours!  We were under flood warnings (the creeks are still running hard!).  And... we discovered that it's time to put more waterproofing on the tent.   Yikes!

Wednesday we had a short ride - just over 200 miles round trip.  We rode to Spearfish via Cheyenne Crossing and Spearfish Canyon.  What a beautiful ride - everything is still so green from all the rain.  We took a short hike to Spearfish falls - they're running hard!

We had lunch at Guadalajara in Spearfish - our favorite Mexican restaurant in the hills!  Luckily, no rain on Wednesday night, so we were able to get all dried out before we packed up!

Just a short ride home today, then laundry and unpacking!  Back to work tomorrow....

Bluebells right at our site!

All settled in... Cocktail time!
This is GPS on my motorcycle!  This was the 360 mile loop
