Annapolis 2023

I got to Kim and Richard's on the 29th, and so far we've been very busy!

6/30 - Saw So Fetch (Eric's Band) at the Renegade in Arlington.  So fun to see his band perform!

7/1 - Kim and Richard took me out on Elmer, their boat.  It was really smooth and calm when we started, and we went out into Chesapeake Bay.  Then the wind came up, and there were more boats, so we headed up the Severn River.  Great day!!

7/4 - Scott, Krisi and the kids came over for a lovely day.  We played in the pool, had a great supper, and then walked on the bridge to watch fireworks.  GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

7/5 - Kim and Richard took me to dinner on Main Street in downtown Annapolis at Luna Blu.  Great meal, and so nice eating outdoors!  There was a band playing good music, and the weather wasn't too hot and humid!!

7/6 - Got to see Eric and Jenny's new house, and Eric's studio.  Beautiful lot, the house is great, and the way he built out the studio is awesome!!

7/7 - Smith Island:  Kim treated us to a ferry ride over to Smith Island, which is an island in the Chesapeake right close to the Virginia state line.  We drove 2 hours to Crisfield to get the ferry, and then it was an hour ride.  It was SO HOT AND HUMID!  We rented a golf cart to tour the island, but weren't allowed to go beyond the little town of Ewell because of "road work" out on the island.  We could have walked to Rhodes Point (it was flat and marshy), but just too damn hot!  We had fun exploring.  Mike would have loved it, and he would have taken the cart out to Rhodes Point!

What an adventure!!  They say by 2100 the island will be gone due to climate change.  Its highest point is about 4'.

7/8 - Krisi and Scott had us over to their house for a bar-b-que and then we had S'mores for dessert!  Their new yard is beautiful, and Anne, Bill, Perry, and Reece were there as well.  Really a fun evening!

7/10 - Kim and Richard helped me celebrate my birthday at Cantlers - one of Mike's favorite spots. Wish he could have joined us.

Before

After!

Crabs in the crab tank - can't get fresher than this!

7/11 - Kim and I drove out to Arlington to see Mom and Dad, and to walk around the National Cemetery.  It's really a beautiful spot.

Kim and Richard had been wanting to go out on the sailing schooner Woodwind - so me being here was a good time to do it!  Mary and her new beau, Mike, came along with us.  It was a sunset beer tasting cruise, and the weather was perfect!  This is the sailboat that Christopher Walken sailed in Wedding Crashers - he called it the "Whood-Whind"!

I can't believe it's been 2 weeks already, and I'm leaving on Friday the 14th. This visit has been so good, it's just what I needed.  I'm so grateful to Kim and Richard for allowing me this time.  Paige said she felt the same way when she came shortly after Dave passed away.  She called it the Zmuda Widow's Retreat.  I can't believe it's been three months already.  I hope I'm ready to travel - and enjoy it - without him.
