We left Georgia on January 25th, and stayed the first night in Montgomery where we always stay. It's a short trip, but it allowed us to get in, de-winterize, and generally get organized.
On Sunday we arrived at Martin Lake RV Resort in Biloxi. I picked this park because it is a private membership park (like Hart Ranch) and is RPI Preferred, so with the resort fee it's only $12/night. We booked for a week. WHAT A DUMP!!
Evidently the members own their spots, and anything goes here. It is SO UGLY - it is exactly what we don't want at Hart Ranch. I'm going to send some of these photos to the Board as they are reviewing allowing tiny homes at Hart Ranch during the February board meeting.
It didn't help that it was pouring rain when we got here and it's just a mud pit on top of being so ugly. Last time we stay here! Next time we'll be back at Parker Landing. It's spendy, but a nice park.
We love the seafood around here, and have had a couple of great meals already.
Since there is a lake, there are lots of ducks and geese around. We got a visit on Tuesday:
Today (Thursday) was a pretty, sunny day. We drove out to the Harrison County Fairgrounds to see the Clydesdales. They're here for several parades in the area - probably leading up to Mardi Gras.
On Sunday we head to Sulphur, LA and one of our favorite parks the AAA+ Motel and RV Park. It is really nice, with nice amenities. We'll be there 3 nights, and then figure out what we're doing next.
Clydesdales - such beautiful horses. They eat 40-50 lbs of hay per day (each!) plus grain twice a day!
On Saturday we drove to the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge. These cranes only live in the area around Biloxi, and they do not migrate. We took a nice nature walk around the visitor center, and then drove around and were lucky to see a pair of cranes. The picture didn't turn out very well; they were too far away. But they're there, trust me! (Right in the middle, along the tree line)

January in Georgia
We've been helping Scott and Angie with their new tiny house - we helped build a deck, paint, and put a roof on the deck. With all the rain it's been really muddy, but they did get asphalt on their driveway so that helps! It's turning out pretty nice, and they should be moving in a couple of weeks.
I've been helping Katie paint - they're getting their house ready to put on the market this spring - no pictures of that.....But Livie and Taylor spent the night on Saturday, and we took them to breakfast at IHop on Sunday - to celebrate Livie's birthday since we won't be here. Chocolate shakes and chocolate pancakes all around!!
Our plan is to head out on the 25th (you always want to drive through Atlanta on a weekend....) so we're getting the motorhome ready to go and getting things organized!
