Spring Creek Flooding

This flooding is amazing!  This is the highest I've ever seen it.  Spring Creek Road is closed from Hart Ranch to Neck Yoke Road.

The north end of the Meadows is flooded - there are probably 5 to 10 sites there that we won't be able to use at all this year.

The Wild Boar Park (paintball, water balloon fights) and the softball field are completely gone.  None of those activities this year.

The community garden is flooded, everyone who has already tilled and planted their plots have lost everything.

It's supposed to start receding today - we can only hope that there hasn't been any damage to Arena Drive and the bridge.

Ella at Hart Ranch

We are having unprecedented flooding here - Spring Creek is running so full it's over the bridge.  They've closed Spring Creek road, and our road, Arena Drive, is closed because the water is over the bridge.  We pray there is no damage, since it's the only way in and out of the park.

The weather forecast looks good for the rest of the time that Ella is here, so we have plans to see lots of stuff.  Today, however, we're stuck in the camper, watching TV and playing cards!

6/3:  Ella has been volunteering for Pee Wee campers and has been having a good time.  Angie Tejeda (Activities Supervisor) mentioned to me how great she is with the kids!

Today Ella and I went to Bear Country, and then drove around the Hills and had lunch at our favorite Diner in Hill City.  Fun Day!!

6/4: Today we went to Reptile Gardens - a really interesting place with lots of snakes, alligators, tortises, and bugs.  If Ella wants to be a biologist, this is a great start!!

6/6:  What a great day!  Sunny, 80, no rain!  We went up to Keystone, and Mike and Ella went zip lining!  They ended up having a private tour - which was lucky because there were a lot of big groups there.  They both enjoyed it - I enjoyed the scenery at the top of the mountain - and rode the chair lift back down!!  There was a great view of Mt Rushmore from the top.

6/10:  We drove Ella to Denver airport to fly back to Atlanta.  We had a great two weeks.  I know she was homesick, but she never complained, and I hope she had a good time!

Ella is cozy - this is her space for the next two weeks

Can you spot them?

Mike hit the landing so hard he bounced back out. They had to toss him a tether to reel him in!!

Chase's Graduation

We left on Tuesday the 21st and drove from Hart Ranch to Georgia.  We got there Wednesday evening (luckily in between all the bad tornadoes that went through Missouri).  Chase's graduation was Thursday night.  It was so great to be there!!  CONGRATULATIONS CHASE!!

The Southeast was having a heat wave, so it was rather warm, but great to see all the kids.

We left on Sunday morning, and Ella came with us. She'll be with us for two weeks, and then we'll take her to Denver to catch a flight back to Atlanta.  We got back on Monday night.
