We had a quick trip to Casa Grande - we were only there for a month. We left there on the 25th of February. We were planning on staying just North of Phoenix on Thursday night so we could meet Anne and Tim Treick for supper in Scottsdale. Unfortunately, the RV park messed up our reservation. I had reserved a "pull - through" and they put us into a "pull - in". That meant that if we unhooked the truck and went to meet Anne and Tim and they put someone in the site in front of us, we would not have been able to hook the truck up to the 5th wheel! They management at that RV park really didn't have a handle on how it worked. So, we decided to bag that and head to Gallup, NM, which would have put us in to Hart Ranch on Sunday instead of the planned Monday.
We stopped for gas in Camp Verde, and just a few miles later we heard a strange noise and I looked in the mirror and saw bits of tire going everywhere. BLOWOUT! Luckily, we were able to pull over next to an interstate on ramp so that there was lots of room for Mike to change the tire. (Of course it was on the driver side). These were the tires we were going to replace this summer anyway.
He got the tire changed, but by this time it was mid-afternoon, so we decided to stop for the night in Flagstaff and see if we could get two tires, so we'd have three new tires on that side. (The spare plus the other two). Then we'd have a spare in case we had another problem.
Luckily (again) there was a truck tire shop directly across the street from the RV park, and they had two tires that would fit (not the ones we would have preferred, but they would do for now). Mike got them all changed, and put the spare back in the spare compartment, and we were good to go. We were lucky to only have minimal damage to the sheet metal.
The rest of the trip was uneventful, thankfully, except for the wind and snow on Monday. From Cheyenne, WY to Hart Ranch it was a horrible headwind. Then, when we got to Hot Springs, it was snowing!!! When we arrived at Hart Ranch it was 25 degrees and there was about an inch of snow on the ground. WELCOME HOME!!! We're glad to be off the road for a while.
