Ostrich Festival, Chandler, Arizona

What a fun day today!  We went to the Ostrich Festival in Chandler with Ellen and Joe.  What a hoot.  It was like a county fair with rides, music, and food.  But the best was Ostrich racing and then they let kids into the ring to chase the Emus.

They also had pig racing  -  I think we should get that at Hart Ranch when we have the rodeo this year.

Here are some pictures from our day.

Arboretum Near Superior

On Wednesday, Ellen and I went to the Arboretum.  We took a wonderful walk through desert landscape.  These pictures (from the phone) don't do it justice.   I didn't realize how much I missed the desert, but taking these walks really brings it back.

The Arboretum is really much more natural than the Desert Gardens were in Phoenix.  This is up in the mountains, and Queen Creek goes through it.  Queen Creek had water in it - we had just had very heavy rain the prior weekend.  The Cottonwoods have really greened up since the heavy rains.
