Today's Ride to Ajo

Today we rode with friends Deb and Lee Ralston.  We rode through Gila Bend, down to Ajo (had lunch), and then made a loop back through Why, through some stunning mountains, and back to Casa Grande.

We've stayed in Ajo in the RV a couple of times when we had the dirt bikes. There is lots of good dirt riding around here, but this was fun too!

Desert Botanical Gardens - Chihuly Exhibit

Today we went with Joe and Ellen DeRose to the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix.  Just the gardens are beautiful, but the main reason we went was to see the Dale Chihuly exhibit.  He is an artist who works in glass.  If you've ever been to the Bellagio in Las Vegas, one of his sculptures hangs in the lobby by the check in desk.

These works were amazing.  Imagine having to dismantle these and pack them up without breaking anything!  Some of the employees were actually dusting them, which out here is a losing battle.

None of the pictures really captures the beauty, but thought I'd share anyway.

Enjoy!

These were at the entrance to the gardens.

This is called blue sapphire

How do they get the glass stalks in the ground without breaking them?  Also, the black balls are glass too!

Imagine putting this one together!

This one was my favorite

SUNNY and WARM in Arizona

After the last post, it's nice to say we're WARM!   We arrived in Coolidge on January 25th, and missed the horrid snomageddon in Atlanta.  We missed all the ice and snow on the way, although we did have 17 for a low in Fort Stockton, TX (balmy compared to the 4 in Cleveland the week before!)

This week has been in the 80's here - ahhhhh.   Not missing the recent ice and snow in Georgia, either.

We've had a couple of really nice rides with friends Lee and Deb Ralston, had our Hart Ranch reunion lunch in Casa Grande, and have been hanging out with friends Joe and Ellen DeRose.

Really ENJOYING the weather here!

This past week we rode up to Roosevelt Reservoir.  We stopped to picnic at Tonto National Monument that has cliff dwellings.
